In honour of the 200th Anniversary of the 1st publication of the brothers Grimm’s folk tales, the Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library is holding a writing contest

Adult Writing Competition
In honour of the 200th Anniversary of the
1st publication of the brothers Grimm’s folk tales,
the Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library is holding a writing contest.

1st Prize: $100 2nd Prize: $50 3rd Prize: $25
Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm
Eligible Writers:

  • a member of the WCYR, WCDR, WCSC, and/or
  • those who hold a valid WSPL library card
Theme: Grimm inspired postcard story:
folk tale or fairy tale
Fee: $5 per entry;
one entry per writer
Maximum: 300 words
Deadline: October 1, 2012
How to submit an entry:

Deliver $5 entry fee before Oct. 1 to the:

Requirements:

Cover sheet: Include title of story, full name, address, phone number, email address, & number of words.

Story: Must be typed in a 12-point font and double-spaced, on white paper.

NOTE: The author’s name should NOT appear on the actual entry, only on the cover sheet.

All winners will be invited to read their story on the WhiStle Radio program “Shelf Life”, and will receive a limited edition chapbook of winning stories, produced letterpress by a local private press.
